Shortcross杜松子酒生产商进入爱尔兰麦芽whiskey
Rademon Estate Distillery, the Shortcross Gin producer based in County Down, Northern Ireland, has announced plans to develop a new Irish malt whiskey.
The Rademon team has already sealed the first casks of the new small batch Irish whiskey, with 100 barrels expected to be filled in the first year.
No third-party spirit will be used in the manufacture of the malt whiskey, with all aspects of production, “from grain to glass”, performed on site.
The liquid will be matured in a variety of casks, which the distillery hopes will allow “new and innovative flavours and aromas” to be created.
David Boyd-Armstrong, head distiller and operations director of Rademon Estate Distillery said: “I am thrilled we have developed what I know will be a fantastic Irish Malt Whiskey and I’m greatly looking forward to August 2018 when we will be able to sample our first three year old Irish Malt Whiskey.
“This style of whiskey is a personal favourite of mine due to the complex flavour profile and I feel it is under represented in the market.”
Rademon Estate’s move into whiskey production coincides with the next wave of investment at the distillery.
Continued expansion over the next three years will represent a total investment of more than £4 million, creating up to six new jobs.
A £50,000 grant through Invest NI’s R&D Boosting Business scheme has helped develop the background technology and skills needed for whiskey distillation, while a £2.5 million investment will see larger pot stills installed to boost capacity to 35,000 litres of pure alcohol per annum.
Plans for a Visitor Experience Centre as part of the investment are also in the pipeline.

“We are proud to announce this project and that this will be amongst the first Irish whiskeys to be distilled in Northern Ireland.”
Rademon Estate Distillerylaunched Shortcross Gin, thought to be Northern Ireland’s first craft gin, in May 2014.
